The Centre debunked claims that the ₹500 currency note will be discontinued by next year, trying to calm the panic among the people caused by the claim.

The panic over the future of currency notes began recently when a video on YouTube went viral over the past few days, claiming that the ₹500 notes will be phased out starting March 2026. The 12-minute-long video, uploaded on a channel named Capital TV and gaining more than five lakh views since June 2, triggered confusion and panic among people.

In fact, the ₹500 note continues to be legal tender and is currently being circulated and accepted across the country. The speculation seems to have arisen from a misinterpretation of a recent RBI circular issued in April 2025. In that circular, the RBI instructed banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAOs) to increase the availability of ₹100 and ₹200 denomination notes through ATMs. This move aims to enhance access to lower denomination currency for day-to-day transactions.

दरअसल, 500 रुपये का नोट अभी भी वैध मुद्रा है और वर्तमान में पूरे देश में प्रचलन में है और स्वीकार किया जाता है। ऐसा लगता है कि यह अटकलें अप्रैल 2025 में जारी RBI के हालिया सर्कुलर की गलत व्याख्या के कारण पैदा हुई हैं। उस सर्कुलर में RBI ने बैंकों और व्हाइट लेबल ATM ऑपरेटरों (WLAO) को ATM के ज़रिए 100 और 200 रुपये के नोटों की उपलब्धता बढ़ाने का निर्देश दिया था। इस कदम का उद्देश्य रोज़मर्रा के लेन-देन के लिए कम मूल्य वाली मुद्रा तक पहुँच बढ़ाना है।

RBI मार्च 2026 तक 500 रुपये के नोटों को बंद करने का फैसला ले सकता है. आरबीआई छोटे नोटों को बढ़ावा देना चाहता है. 500 रुपये के नोटों के चलन को कम करके एटीएम और बैंकों में 100 और 200 रुपये के नोटों का चलन बढ़ेगा, जितने 500 रुपये की वैल्यू के नोट बंद होंगे. उतने ही वैल्यू के छोटे नोटों की छपाई होगी.

》रेलवे ने अपनी अपग्रेडेशन स्कीम में कुछ नई ट्रेन श्रेणियों को शामिल किया है:

1 मई 2025 से रेलवे के नियमों में बदलाव होने जा रहा है, जिससे यात्रियों को कई बदलाव देखने को मिलेंगे. अब वेटिंग लिस्ट वाले यात्री स्लीपर या एसी कोच में यात्रा नहीं कर पाएंगे, उन्हें जनरल कोच में ही सफर करना होगा.

• ⃟वेटिंग टिकट पर यात्रा:

  अब वेटिंग लिस्ट टिकट के साथ स्लीपर और एसी कोच में सफर नहीं कर सकते.
• ⃟जनरल कोच में यात्रा:

  वेटिंग लिस्ट वाले यात्री केवल जनरल कोच में यात्रा कर सकते हैं. 
• ⃟जुर्माना:

  यदि कोई व्यक्ति वेटिंग लिस्ट टिकट के साथ स्लीपर या एसी कोच में यात्रा करता है, तो उस पर जुर्माना लगाया जाएगा. 
• ⃟स्लीपर में जुर्माना:

  स्लीपर कोच में यात्रा करने पर 250 रुपये तक का जुर्माना और अगले स्टेशन तक का किराया देना होगा. 
• ⃟एसी में जुर्माना:

  एसी कोच में यात्रा करने पर 440 रुपये तक का जुर्माना और अगले स्टेशन तक का किराया देना होगा. 
• ⃟टीटीई द्वारा जुर्माना:

  टीटीई वेटिंग लिस्ट टिकट के साथ स्लीपर और एसी कोच में सफर करने वाले यात्रियों को ट्रेन से उतार भी सकता है 

यह नियम यात्रियों की भीड़ को नियंत्रित करने और कन्फर्म टिकट वाले यात्रियों को प्राथमिकता देने के लिए लागू किया गया है. 

⃟एडवांस रिजर्वेशन पीरियड:

एडवांस रिजर्वेशन पीरियड के दिन भी घटा दिए गए है. एडवांस रिजर्वेशन पीरियड को 120 दिन से घटाकर 60 दिन कर दिया गया है.

क्यों बदला गया नियम:

रेलवे ने ऐसा कदम इसलिए उठाया है क्योंकि वेटिंग टिकट होने के बावजूद भी कुछ यात्री सफर करने के लिए एसी और स्लीपर में कोच में बैठ जाते हैं. जिसके वजह से जिन यात्रियों के पास कन्फर्म टिकट होता है उन्हें सीट नहीं मिलती थी और वो पूरे सफर के दौरान खड़े होकर काफी दिक्कतों के साथ सफर करते थे.
