Seminars, in theory, could be taught in a socially distanced setting, but professors can’t wear masks while teaching, and students will presumably remove theirs to speak.

Summer vacation for schools from May 3 to June 6...

The Gujarat education department has suspended its earlier notification to commence academic session from April 2021.

The summer vacations for schools have been declared in the state from May 3 till June 6. The new academic session will commence in June after the summer vacations, the education department’s government resolution issued Wednesday stated. 

On Wednesday, the Education Department stated that the summer vacations for schools will start from 3rd May. All the schools will remain closed till 6th June. The new academic session will commence in June after the summer vacation gets over. Earlier, the notification released on 4th February and 23rd March stated that the academic session will commence from June to April as followed by the Central Board of Secondary Education. 

In fact, state education minister Bhupendrasih Chudasama told TOI that it has been decided not to give the conventional 35 days of summer vacation at the end of the academic year 2020-21. “We have decided not to declare 35-day long summer vacation. The summer break will most likely be only for a week,” Chudasama said. The decision will be binding to schools all boards.

School managements have largely welcomed the decision. “We had requested the state government to curtail the long summer break. A 35-daybreak is not needed at a time when students have largely remained at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The summer vacations for schools in Gujarat have been declared from May 3 till June 6. The new academic session will start in June after the summer vacations, the education department’s order said on Wednesday.

As India faces the deadly Covid-19 second wave surge, the government had on Monday opened vaccinations to everyone above the 18 years of age from May 1.

 

Vaccine registration available for all above 18 years will start from 28 April on the Cowin platform and the Aarogya Setu app.

• Log on to www.cowin.gov.in.
• Enter your mobile number.
• Get an OTP to create your account.
• Enter the OTP and click on the “Verify" button.
• You will be directed to the registration of the vaccination' page. On this page, there will be an option to choose one photo ID proof.
• Fill in your name, age, gender and upload an identity document.
• Click on the “Register" button.
• Once the registration is completed; the system will show the “Account Details".
• A citizen can further add three more people linked with this mobile number by clicking on the “Add More" button.
• There will be a button indicating 'Schedule appointment'. Now click on it.
• Search a vaccination center of choice by state, district, block and pin code.
• Date and availability will also be displayed.
• Click on the 'book' button.
• On successful completion of booking, you will receive a message. That confirmation details will have to be shown at the vaccination center.

From 8 pm to 6 am..... 

In an effort to break the chain of the coronavirus, the Gujarat government on Tuesday extended night curfew to 9 more cities.

 

Issuing an order, the Gujarat CMO said that the malls, shopping complexes, cinema halls, auditoriums, gyms, swimming pools, water parks, public gardens, salon, spas and other amusement activities will be closed in all 29 cities.

 

The order also stated that public access to religious places across the state will be closed. “Only administrators and priests will be able to perform puja. Public bus transport will continue in the entire state with 50% capacity.

 

Order will come into effect from:

 

 28th April 2021 To 5th May 2021.

In the week between March 13 and 19, over nine lakh doses were administered across the state. In the following week, the vaccination drive was ramped up, with over 15 lakh doses administered till March 26, and 16.77 lakh doses in the subsequent week, till April 2.

 

Experts in Gujarat have emphasized that “any unusual symptom should be taken as high index of suspicion for Covid-19”, and a doctor must be consulted.
